Daniel Zongrone is a public artist currently based in Italy. He is best known for his work in the electronic music group Earthstar beginning 1977. Zongrone grew up in Utica, New York, where he met Dennis Rea and Norm Peach. All three musicians joined together with Craig Wuest to form Earthstar, with Zongrone serving as percussionist. They were signed by Nashville-based Moontower records which released their debut album, Salterbarty Tales. Zongrone again collaborated with Dennis Rea, composing music for an exhibition of painter and former Earthstar violinist Daryl Trivieri's work at the Semaphore East Gallery in New York City. The following year Zongrone received a NEA "Meet the Composer" grant for NYC dance performance. He also recorded his solo album Absolute Zero. He composed the soundtrack to the independent film "The Glasshead". Currently Zongrone is a soundtrack composer for film, theater and live performance.
