In the late 50's, Jim Pike and Bob Engemann met at Brigham Young University. Both had sung professionally in other groups before they got together. Jim and Bob teamed up and went to Hollywood in 1958 singing as a duo. In 1959 Jim met Tony Butala while singing in a Vegas Lounge group when Bob had to fulfill an obligation for the National Guard. Jim asked Tony to leave the lounge group and join him and Bob to form a trio. They chose the name "The Lettermen" and the rest is history. In late 1967 Bob decided to leave the group and Jim asked his younger brother Gary Pike to join the Lettermen and the hits continued. After many years Jim eventually sold The Lettermen name and retired from the group. In reuniting and forming "Reunion" they saw Ric de Azevedo performing in a musical in Los Angeles and Jim said, "There's the third voice for our REUNION!" They asked Ric to join them in their new trio. REUNION was born. Ric de Azevedo gained fame as a member of the famous KING FAMILY, America's first family of song on the ABC Television Network.
