Сергей Мацюшевич

Sergey Matsyushevich - pianist-accompanist, composer. Sergei Matsyushevich began studying music in Vologda with Elena Levitskaya, a pupil of the St. Petersburg piano school, and graduated from the Moscow Conservatory with Konstantin Igumnov. Throughout his creative life, the pianist was an accompanist - first at the Opera Studio of the Bolshoi Theater with Stanislavsky, then at the Moscow Art Theater, and since 1949 - on the staff of the Moscow Philharmonic. Working with singers, Matsyushevich himself composed vocal music, made arrangements for voice and piano. In the Great Hall of the Leningrad Philharmonic, they were performed in concerts by Nadezhda Kazantseva (1953 and 1955) and Valeria Barsova, with whom Sergei Matsyushevich had years of close cooperation. With her, he gave concerts, recorded records, and came to the Great Hall, accompanying the singer in solo evenings in 1931, 1933, 1934, 1937 and twice in October 1938.
