Kavi Pradeep (6 February 1915 – 11 December 1998), born Ramchandra Narayanji Dwivedi, was an Indian poet and songwriter. He as active between 1939-1997 and in this span he wrote approx. 1700 songs & poems, including the lyrics of about 72 films. He was made the Rashtrakavi, (Poet Laureate), and came to be known as, [I]Kavi Pradeep[/I] and in 1997 he was honoured by India's highest award in Cinema- the Dada Saheb Phalke Award for Lifetime Achievement.
