Nicolas Rais

Nicolas Rais is a drummer, composer & sound designer. He started drumming on metal tea boxes with pencils when he was four years old. At the same time he was already interested in all kinds of daily sounds. He started studying music at six and playing drums from nine to twenty with three different teachers : Chris von Hoffmann (Pepe Lienhard Band), Jean Rochat, Raùl Esmerode , and got his diploma at the Geneva Jazz Academy in 1993. He was lucky to study the piano with Mrs. Dabasi (one of Béla Bartók’s students). Nicolas started to play in several rock, pop and jazz bands as a drummer. Interested in composing & sound designing, he worked for several firms such as : Ebel Swiss Watches (the architects of time), Reuters, Intras, Securitas and the famous architect Xavier Jeanneret. He also took an essential part in several artists’ albums : 'Oni Epik’s first album Fonetik', "Swab", "For The Passion", 'Fat Black Sexy Mama', "Krista Kellner", No Time for Redemption and many others... Today Nicolas Rais has the knowledge and competence to compose in any musical genres.
