German Tenor, born Mai,13 1888. He began his career in 1924 as a concert singer and in 1925 was engaged as a concert and opera singer at the NORAG radio station in Hamburg, where he remained until 1929. He now also made his debut on the opera stage, and in 1930 went on engagement to the Stadttheater Magdeburg. After a successful guest performance, he was called to the Bavarian State Opera in Munich in 1932, where he was especially successful in heroic roles: as Lohengrin, as Walther von Stolzing in the "Meistersinger", as Rienzi, as Siegmund in the "Walküre" and as Parsifal. In 1935 he went to the City Theater of Kiel and sang at the City Theater of Essen in 1936-42. In the 1942-43 season he was again engaged in Kiel, after which he gave guest performances, but does not seem to have appeared again after World War II. Among his other roles are Florestan in "Fidelio," Max in "Freischütz," Tannhäuser, the title character in H. Pfitzner's "Palestrina," and Faule Hans in Alexander Ritter's opera of the same name. Guest appearances brought him success in theaters in Germany as well as in Switzerland; in addition to his work on the stage, he constantly continued his activity as a concert singer.records: Orchestrola, Adler (Wagner arias).
