English-born American pianist (born August 28, 1912 in Howe, Sussex, England – died April 5, 1972 in Los Angeles, CA, USA) Crown came to the United States at age 4. He studied piano in Germany and Austria, including three years with Moriz Rosenthal in Vienna. From the 1930s to the 1960s, Crown was a professor of piano at the University of Southern California. One of his students was Stan Kenton.
