Billy Barton (2)

Jazz and dance band musician (alto/tenor sax, clarinet, singer), born c. 1890 in USA, died after 1933 in USA. Barton's first known engagements were in China (1920) and Australia. He moved to England in 1925, playing with Bert Ralton and recording with Bert Firman (1925-1926). He toured South Africa with Ralton in 1926, and led the band after Ralton's death in1927. Return to England, recorded again with Firman, before moving to Germany in 1928, where he recorded as a leader with his own studio dance band in 1930-1931 and with Marek Weber, Theo Mackeben and othrs. He toured Germany and Switzerland in 1932-1933, and then probably returned to USA.
