Anneke Douma

Anneke, born in Leeuwarden, is a former Frisian singer from 1958 to 2021. As a 14-year-old girl, Anneke Douma was asked to be a singer with various orchestras that played at weddings and parties. Her career took off when Pier Sambrink asked her to join his popular orchestra De Sambrinco's. Her first solo single was a yodelling song, but she soon also sang in Frisian. In 1996 she achieved great success with the Liwwadder song 't Woanskip' and a year later she gained national fame in the Netherlands with 'Bonkefeart'. Anneke was also called the Queen of Frisian song.
