Andrzej Strumiłło

Andrzej Strumiłło was born in Vilnius in 1927 and he died in the eastern Polish town of Suwałki in 2020. A painter, graphic artist, drawer, poet and set designer, he was also involved with photography; he was a member of the Związek Polskich Artystów Fotografików (Union of Polish Art Photographers) and the author of numerous books and albums. Strumiłło was a traveller and collector. As an expert on Asian art, he was also a member of the council of the Asia and Pacific Museum in Warsaw. He studied under a distinguished painter, Władysław Strzemiński, at what was then the State Higher School of Visual Arts, now the Academy of Fine Arts, in the central Polish city of Łódź, and then at the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 1950. http://blokmagazine.com
